Not only do sports develop in children a love for sports, but it also familiarizes them with many aspects of growing up. It educates them about the need to strive for success and the need of self-discipline. However, children are not as resilient as mature sportspersons as their bodies are still developing. And so, caution is advisable in order to prevent unnecessary injuries and pains to children while playing. Here are some guidelines:-
1. When injured or in pain, children should abstain from playing.
2. Vegetables, protein, fruits and dairy products should be made a must in the children’s diet as they are absolutely necessary for strong bones.
3. Properly fitting protective gear is a must for children while playing. The use of right equipments that has been particularly designed for the sport is imperative for the child’s safety.
4. Parents and coaches should be adept with the knowledge of body mechanics and physiology required in relation to the sports being played by the child.
5. In order to keep muscle spasms at bay, children should pay attention to their warm-up and cool-down routines and perform them diligently.
6. To take care of injuries, children will require chiropractic adjustments that move and press the joints.
7. Children must be taught to abide by the rules of the game while playing. This helps in cutting down the number of injuries and fouls.
